Developed eastern Asian nations import a big amount of ladies from abroad as brides on a yearly basis, although such cross?border marriages practically would not occur twenty years ago. Having a framework that is theoretical empirical evidence, we argue that developed Asian nations’ need for international brides could be the result of enhancement in females’s financial status and gender?discriminative household arrangements that insufficiently incorporate ladies’ improved status in wedding. We provide sets of empirical evidence consistent with our argument, utilizing macro? that is various microlevel datasets. (JEL A12, J12, J61)
